Thoughts about Creating an Afternoon Tea: Chantilly's 1st Cooking Class

While preparing for Chantilly's first "Tea & More" Cooking Class happening this weekend titled "Create an Afternoon Tea," I have been pondering this delightful ceremony.  The ritual of afternoon tea can be an elegant affair or a simple gathering of a few friends around a patio table.  Each afternoon tea is a unique blend of the vision of the hostess/host in creating a specific atmosphere through location, table setting, and menu.  Yet, whatever shape or form in which you decide to share a cup of tea and treats, the spirit behind it remains one of offering hospitality and a moment of respite to family and friends.  Even if not entertaining others, the ritual of teatime can be a welcomed and relaxing break in a busy day.  Basically, afternoon tea is a celebration of all things delightful and delectable.

As author and tea lover Emilie Barnes once wrote...

"The very act of preparing and serving tea encourages conversation.  The little spaces in time created by teatime rituals call out to be filled with conversation.  Even the tea itself--warm and comforting--inspires a feeling of relaxation and trust that fosters shared confidences."

HOPE YOU ALL FIND A MOMENT IN YOUR SCHEDULE TO ENJOY A CUP OF TEA!
