Chantilly Scone Class Baked Up Delicious!
This past weekend we concluded our Spring 2017 "Tea & More" Class series with our "Baking the Perfect Scone." A hands-on class, attendees excitedly arrived with aprons, ready to get floured and bake. The class opened with a brief discussion about scones and basic guidelines for making the perfect scone while everyone sampled our "hot from the oven" Cinnascone. Chef Jenny and I each demoed a batch of scones that would later be served with their afternoon tea. The flavors we chose were Orange, Thyme, Honey, and Blueberry using our Classic Cream Scone Mix as the base; and Papaya, Coconut using our Blue Corn White Chocolate Scone Mix.
Work stations were set-up for each participant, and then the creative fun began as everyone decided what flavors they wanted to use for their scones. A variety of dried fruits, chocolate, extracts, spices, nuts, etc. were available to add to our scone mixes and the combinations chosen were varied, unique, and delicious! Everyone made two batches of scones to take home. While batch after batch of scones baked, a two-course afternoon tea was served. One of the tea "scone" sandwiches was an Avocado Scone we created paired with turkey, bacon, arugula, and tomato.
